Depending on the environment in which the truck will operate, drum or disc brakes are available. Volvo uses Z-cam drum brakes. The Z-cam brake system offers good safety with high efficiency combined with excellent brake feel and control. It also protects against dirt and mud in a way that disc brakes can’t compete with.

EBS (Electronically-controlled Brake System) is available for disc brakes and Z-cam drum brakes. Giving better response, performance and feel. It also provides additional features like anti-lock braking, traction, stability and brake monitoring.

Electronic Stability Program – ESP (also called Electronic Stability Control – ESC) is an important safety feature available for a wide range of truck specifications. The program reduces the risk of skidding and rolling over. ESP provides more stable braking while also making it possible to distribute the braking force between axles and wheels. If the system detects that the truck is starting to lurch or behave abnormally in some other way, the ESP reduces engine torque or activates the brakes individually – reducing speed and straightening up.

I-shift

Sets new standards for fuel economy and driveability. I-Shift is Volvo’s 12-speed splitter and range gearbox with an automated gear changing system. As convenient as an automatic, with the sensitive and responsive close ratios of a manual gearbox. I-Shift can be equipped from factory with a power take-off, compact retarder, energy power steering pump and oil cooler. Customize it with the program package that suits you. Like Enhanced Performance: adapting gearshifting, assisting starting and driving on rough, hilly roads. Or Launch Control: optimising gear choice for low speed manoeuvres.

Automatic

Automatic

Powertronic is a fully automatic 6-speed planetary transmission. Changes gear smoothly and without any disruption in power delivery. An inbuilt torque converter amplifies the power and guarantees smooth starts in difficult conditions. Choose between Economy or Performance mode, as suits the assignment.

Manual

Manual

Available in 14-speed splitter and range models. They’re designed for short and distinct gear settings. Synchromesh with servo provides low shifting forces. No need to wrestle with the stick: the drivers can remain as productive as possible.
