Volvo Defense is a business unit within Volvo Trucks and the Volvo Group, and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo Defense offers a wide range of bespoke logistic trucks, engineering machines, marine & industrial applications, and engines to global defense and civil protection customers. The products are characterized by their robustness and flexibility, focusing on operational effectiveness and capabilities.
Volvo was established in 1927. In the same year, the first mass-produced Volvo car rolled off the production line on the island of Hisingen in Göteborg, Sweden. The next year, when Volvo began to manufacture trucks as well as cars, the company also started developing military vehicles. Since then, Volvo has grown from a small local industry to become one of the world’s largest manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses, construction equipment, and marine & industrial engines.
